3D Systems Launches 3D-Scan-to-SOLIDWORKS Solution for Geomagic

3D Systems has released the Geomagic for SOLIDWORKS, a 3D scan-to-SOLIDWORKS software and integral part of the company’s end-to-end solutions for industrial designers and engineers.

Geomagic for SOLIDWORKS delivers fast and accurate processing of 3D scan data directly within the SOLIDWORKS environment. Users can create feature-based solid and surface data in a streamlined digital workflow. They can safe immense amounts of time by taking a 3D scan of an object and then model the data directly in SOLIDWORKS.

Working seamlessly inside SOLIDWORKS, the new plug-in includes features like scanning directly into the software, scan registration, automated smoothing, instant ‘wrapping’ to polygons, mesh editing, surfacing and automated “Smart Selection” tools for extracting solid features. Additionally, precise deviation analysis enables engineers to quickly and accurately compare completed CAD models to original scan data.

The new software supports direct san input from a wide range of 3D scanners including scanners from FARO, Hexagon, Nikon, Creaform, Artec and 3D Systems.

“3D Systems’ Geomagic for SOLIDWORKS is a powerful addition to our comprehensive ecosystem of 3D solutions, enabling designers and engineers to take advantage of our scan-to-CAD products within the SOLIDWORKS environment,” said Ilan Erez, Vice President, Co-Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer, Software Products, 3D Systems. “Never before has such precision been achievable at such speed.”

3D measurement and imaging technology company FARO Technology will include Geomagic for SOLIDWORKS in an exclusive bundle offered with its new FARO Design ScanArm.

3D Systems will host customer webinars on Geomagic for SOLIDWORKS on June 21, 2016 at 10.00 am EDT and on June 22, 2016 at 8.00 pm EDT.
