Metal 3D printing: simulation software from AdditiveLab now integrated into AddUp Manager

AdditiveLab, a developer of simulation software for metal additive manufacturing, has partnered with AddUp, a global metal additive manufacturing OEM, to release the latest version of AddUp Manager.

The build preparation software for metal printing includes a powerful simulation engine specifically designed to optimize and simplify the production process on the FormUp 350 Powder Bed Fusion machine. The AddUp Manager allows the adjustment of over 250 variables and parameters, the creation of individual melting strategies and the visualization of laser processes. The latest version 7.6 integrates an intuitive and efficient simulation module that increases precision and flexibility for high-quality metal printing.
With a decade of experience, AdditiveLab understands the challenges companies face when adapting AM technology on an industrial scale, especially when optimizing manufacturing success.

“We are excited to partner with AddUp because their customers use metal AM for challenging designs at a serial production level. Our software integration will help AddUp customers overcome production challenges, enabling them to manufacture complex designs more efficiently.” said Christian Rossmann, AdditiveLab CEO. “This partnership presented an excellent opportunity to collaborate and make an impact on industrializing metal AM.”

Simulation software is critical in metal printing to predict stresses and deformations in the build process before printing begins. By predicting and correcting these issues, manufacturers can significantly reduce errors and increase success rates. The new simulation software integrated into AddUp Manager 7.6 provides a fast, accurate and easy-to-use solution for optimizing scanning strategies and understanding the complex details of the additive manufacturing process.

Metal printing previously required the use of separate software solutions for build preparation and simulation, increasing costs and the risk of overlooked deformations or errors between platforms. Integrating a simulation engine into AddUp Manager simplifies the build preparation process and provides a unified platform that increases efficiency and reduces the learning curve for using multiple software tools.

“After testing multiple options, the result from AdditiveLab was superior. Their simulation software was very simple to use and provided an easy way to integrate functionality into AddUp Manager” explained Sebastien Devroe, AddUp’s Chief Technology Officer. “The partnership with AdditiveLab ensures our customers have a seamless and efficient user experience.”

This collaboration and the technical advancements it brings underscore how AdditiveLab and AddUp are working together to advance metal-based additive manufacturing and provide users with advanced tools and seamless integration.
