Shapesmith: Open Source 3D Modelling in Browser

Software developer Benjamin Nortier introduces Shapesmith, a clean open source 3D software licensed under Apache.

Being a enthusiastic 3D printer fan and CAD user, developer Benjamin Nortier wanted to create his own 3D modelling software. The result is a browser based software with simple, intuitive and clean user interface. The open source project licensed under Apache is supposed to enable every user to quickly and easily create your own 3D model, which can be printed afterwards.

The software requires a WebGL enabled browser and can be tested free of charge here.

Nortier is now planning on implementing storage interfaces, which will enable the user to export the models to Thingiverse.
