Barron Industries will invest in its plant in Oxford, Michigan. This will strengthen Michigan’s position as a high-tech center for the defense and aerospace industry and create 50 new innovative high-tech jobs. This was announced by Governor Gretchen Whitmer and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC).
Having recently celebrated its 100th anniversary in Oxford Township, Barron Industries now plans to acquire new advanced metal 3D printing and machining equipment. To house this new equipment, the company will build a new Advanced Aerospace Manufacturing Center with support from the Michigan Strategic Fund (MSF). With the expansion, the company expects to generate $9.1 million in investment and create 50 new jobs. In support of this, the MSF has awarded the company a $900,000 performance-based grant from the Michigan Business Development Program.
“We appreciate MEDC’s support of Barron Industries in our next stage of growth and expansion in Oxford to open our Aerospace and Defense Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center,” said Bruce M. Barron, President and CEO of Barron Industries, Inc. “This support provides crucial funding for building and equipment early on in the launch while Barron aggressively onboards and trains the high-level technicians needed to staff the new facility.”
Michigan’s defense and aerospace ecosystems remain a key industry in the state, with nearly 4,000 companies operating in these fields. The defense industry contributes $30 billion to Michigan’s economy and supports over 116,000 jobs.
