3D printer manufacturer EOS announced the launch of its 1,356 square meter Additive Minds Academy Center. The training facility focuses on industrial 3D printing enablement, technical training and customer success.
It is aimed at engineers and operators in the field of industrial 3D printing and offers both face-to-face and online courses. By combining practical exercises and theoretical lessons, the training center promotes the continuous support and development of the industry, a key part of EOS’ commitment.
“We have long recognized the need to look beyond the scope of AM technology acquisition. To grow our industry and AM adoption, education must keep pace, and building a strong workforce to support the burgeoning, transformational technology is essential. We are committed to both the enablement of our customers and to the successful education of all those exploring powder-bed AM”, said Glynn Fletcher, EOS North America president.
The new center is supported by AM experts and trainers who have completed more than 1,000 successful customer projects in the last five years. As such, the academy represents an educational pillar for empowerment in industrial 3D printing. Veteran EOS engineering teams, consultants and technicians share their extensive knowledge and experience in manufacturing.
“Whether training customers or new AM system operators, I often use the technical knowledge and experience I gained from my years as an AM field service engineer. My time spent working side by side with in-house customer engineering teams has given me unique insight into what operators need to know to be successful and how to train a self-sufficient AM production team”, commented Julio Mejia-Andino, AM academy instructor.
Additionally, EOS is partnering with Detroit-based Automation Alley to provide training opportunities for its Project DIAMOnD 3D printing network. This Oakland County-funded project has already equipped more than 300 small and medium-sized manufacturers in Michigan with state-of-the-art 3D printers
“Through our partnership with EOS, Project DIAMOnD participating companies will be able to leverage EOS’ expertise in both metal and polymer AM and will receive guidance on optimizing their designs for 3D printing.
