The Volkswagen Group, a global leader in the automotive industry, has further strengthened its commitment to additive manufacturing by acquiring a second MetalFAB system from Additive Industries.
The decision to purchase the MetalFAB system was based on its high level of automation, which eliminates the need for manual processes and improves safety. Its modularity allows Volkswagen to expand production capacity without having to make additional major investments.
Productivity features of the MetalFAB system, such as full-field lasers and automated production changeovers, ensure high production rates and “lights-out” operation. In addition, Volkswagen has invested in the optimization of production parameters and introduced tools for efficient powder processing and recovery.
Mark Massey, Chief Executive Officer at Additive Industries, says: “We as Additive Industries are happy to be able to provide Volkswagen Group with their second MetalFAB system. We are here to help them expand their capabilities in the field of additive manufacturing and move towards the next step in the automotive industry.”
