Formnext, one of the world’s leading trade fairs in the field of additive manufacturing (AM), has revised its awards concept and introduced the new Formnext Awards. The aim of this realignment is to put talented and motivated people and their ground-breaking ideas in the spotlight. Applications can now be submitted in six different categories, including young innovative companies, sustainable business ideas and outstanding technologies.
Since its inception in 2015, Formnext has been recognizing creative and innovative companies and supporting them in their development as part of the Start-up Challenge. This initiative has been instrumental in helping new technologies reach the market and drive the AM industry forward. The new Formnext Awards will further expand this commitment. A high-caliber jury consisting of representatives from renowned companies, investors and research institutes will evaluate the international submissions in the various categories.
The submission deadline for the Start-up Award is August 9, 2024, while the remaining categories are open until September 6, 2024. The jury members include Arno Held from AM Ventures, Alex Kingsbury from nLight and Prof. Dr. Peter Mayr from the Technical University of Munich.
The Formnext Awards cover various areas to reflect the diversity and innovative strength of the industry. The focus is on young companies with viable business models, individuals with promising business ideas and sustainable AM applications and products. In addition, exceptional AM design, particularly innovative products, technologies or services as well as outstanding contributions to training and development in the AM industry will be recognized.
The finalists will be presented in a special show at Formnext. Visitors on site and online will have the opportunity to vote for their favorites in a public vote. The winners will be announced at a ceremony on November 21, 2024. In addition to the trophy designed by SUTOSUTO and sponsored by Voxeljet, the winners will receive attractive prize packages consisting of cash and non-cash prizes as well as extensive communication and marketing activities.
“It is not only important for start-ups and young companies to exchange ideas, showcase themselves and make contacts with potential customers, partners and investors. That’s why we no longer just want to support our AM newcomers, but also address the growing diversity of the AM industry with our Formnext Awards and dedicate ourselves to an even broader spectrum of disciplines,” explains Sascha F. Wenzler, Vice President Formnext at the organizer Mesago Messe Frankfurt GmbH. “With our new awards, we also want to recognize and promote achievements outside of the existing product categories.”
