The Israel-based startup 3DShook has launched a new kind of subscription service for unlimited download of 3D printable models.
With fees starting at $ 14.90 for a monthly membership, users can currently choose from over 600 models in over 40 categories, with a predicted growth rate of 100 and more models per month. Their own design and QA teams check all models on their printability before they go online.
“We cancel or put on hold roughly 20% of our designs during QA. We want to assure the best possible 3D printing experience so any design that does not print well won’t make it to the collection”, said Co-founder Hector Berrebi.
3DShook also says that they limit their database to designs that have purpose and usefulness in daily life or a cultural background.
Berrebi continues: “We recognized a clear lack of quality content both appealing and functional, which is packaged and priced for mass consumption. We want to see 3D printers in every home – we feel that it’s already a perfect life companion – and believe that the way there is only through quality content.”
In addition to designs, the company has also launched online viewing and printing tools to position, scale and prepare models for 3D printing.
The website will operate in beta mode over the coming months, as new tools and functions are added.
