Crayola and 3D Systems teamed up for a new kind of colouring experience for kids. At the International CES taking place in Las Vegas last week, they introduced the Crayola Color Alive App for iOS and Android with exciting features.
Kids can now receive a 3D printed figure based on their 2D picture. After colouring their favourite character in one of Crayola’s Color Alive colouring books, a picture can be taken within the app of a mobile device. The photo will then be converted into a three-diamensional representation of the character.
Along with the different books featuring Skylanders, Barbie, Enchanted Garden and Mythical Creatures, Crayola also offers crayons with special virtual effects like “fire breath”.
Through the cooperation with 3D Systems, a 3D print of these virtual characters created on the ProJet 660Pro, can be ordered for $ 50. The 3D printing feature of the App will probably be launched in April this year.
