GREENFILL3D, a Polish startup specializing in 3D printing with innovative, eco-friendly materials, has announced collaboration with four leading filament manufacturers to develop its COLORISED line of lighting accessories.
The materials will be supplied by Copper3D of Chile and three Polish companies – Grupa Azoty, Spectrum Filaments and ROSA 3D. GREENFILL3D will 3D print its products with antibacterial, biodegradable and compostable properties, giving everyday objects a unique character.
COLORISED is a range of colored lighting accessories, such as frames for electric switches, sockets and LED lamps, as well as light switches themselves, which can be customized. These products can be both decorative and functional, with QR codes, information, warnings or Braille on the frames, for example.
One application example is lighting accessories for hospitals and medical facilities. Thanks to the collaboration with Copper3D, these gain antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties through the use of copper nanoparticle-doped polylactide (PLA)-based filaments. The PLActive filament is FDA registered and eliminates over 99.99% of microorganisms. It also complies with European Union standards: No. 10/2011, No. 1935/2004 and No. 2023/2006, and has been clinically tested in dental restorations with excellent results.
Another application is products made of fully compostable materials. Here GREENFILL3D cooperates with Grupa Azoty, a major manufacturer of fertilizers, plastics, chemicals and pigments. Grupa Azoty is developing its own line of materials for 3D printers, including technical and high-performance filaments as well as biodegradable and compostable ones. Tarfuse envi 1 is degraded in the natural environment, leaving behind only water, CO2 and organic matter. The formulation was developed with environmental considerations in mind and releases less CO2 into the atmosphere during degradation.
