Recently Stratasys revealed their new J750 3D printer which is capable of mixing up to 360.000 colours – now the company shows off what is possible in the field of arts.
Stratasys supported many art projects over the time. These pieces of art often utilise the full potential of the capabilities of 3D printing. With the full colour capabilities of the new J750 the two artists Nick Ervinck and Jose Sanchez got a chance to push the limits even further.
Nick Ervinck:
“The vibrant colors and intricate details of the piece, such as the central lines representing the figure’s veins, were integral to the sculpture, both in creating a sense of movement and fluidity and in reflecting the traditional cultural styles that inspired the work. It would have been impossible to manually transfer this texture onto the sculpture in any other way – it is only with the new Stratasys J750 3D Printer that this first-of-its kind artwork has been made possible.”
Their works Polyomino and Wolfkiam take not only advantage of the general capability of building complex structures with 3D printing but also the J750´s capability of creating these in full colour. But see for yourself:
