Additive Industries presented the latest version of its MetalFab technology at the RAPID + TCT trade fair. The Dutch manufacturer of 3D printing systems is introducing an innovative concept with the MetalFab 300 Flex. A flexible build volume that can be customized as required.
The metal powder bed fusion system is equipped with two 500 watt lasers as standard, but can be upgraded to four lasers. The standard build volume is 300 x 300 x 400 mm and can be extended to 420 x 420 x 400 mm if required. This expansion takes place via a monthly or lifetime license.
With an entry-level price of around 680,000 euros, Additive Industries is targeting companies looking to get into metal 3D printing. The system is particularly interesting for sectors such as automotive, defense, oil and gas and the semiconductor industry.
MetalFab technology has already found users in the automotive industry such as Volkswagen, Sauber Technologies and Alfa Romeo Racing. Industrial players such as DL ETG, a Dutch developer of complex mechatronic systems, and the British Satellite Applications Catapult also rely on this technology.
