DMG MORI, a leading manufacturer of machine tools, has presented its latest development in the field of metal 3D printing with the LASERTEC 30 SLM 3rd Gen. According to the manufacturer, the selective laser melting system sets new standards in terms of robustness and reproducibility.
The LASERTEC 30 SLM 3rd Gen is based on the same material and design principles as most of DMG MORI’s milling and turning machines. The system is available in configurations with one, two or four lasers, allowing full overlap. A bidirectional coating system with collision protection ensures efficient powder application.
With a working area of 325 x 325 x 400 mm, the machine offers sufficient space for complex components. A removable build tank reduces changeover times between jobs. The integrated rePLUG powder module enables a closed material cycle and ensures fast, contamination-free material changes and a safe working environment.
Automated powder handling functions include integrated powder recycling as well as sieving and drying functions in a protective gas atmosphere. The optional rePLUG FLEX module is available for material development and process parameter optimization.
A special feature of the LASERTEC 30 SLM 3rd Gen is the “floating process chamber”, which can expand in all directions in the event of temperature fluctuations to compensate for thermal shifts. Active temperature compensation for Z-axis positioning ensures the accuracy of the components. The thermo-symmetrical casting frame, a first in additive manufacturing according to DMG MORI, provides additional stability and predictability.
The machine uses DMG MORI’s CELOS X operating environment with easyAM, which offers guided workflows and easy integration of various interfaces. A maintenance app supports regular service activities.
