German manufacturer of 3D printing materials, INDMATEC, has introduced PEEK as a filament for FDM printers.
Due to its high melting point, polyether ether ketone (PEEK), a thermoplastic polymer used in engineering applications, has recently only been available for Selective Laser Sintering applications within the additive manufacturing sector. The material features excellent mechanical and chemical resistance properties and is common in applications for aerospace as well as for automotive parts and medical implants.
Karlsruhe based company INDMATEC has extruded raw PEEK into a high quality filament, ready to be used for FDM printing. A special metal hot end, that reaches a temperature up to 400°C, can process the filament and therefore not every 3D printer can be used. INDMATEC however offers technical advice for upgrading an existing FDM printer.
The 200g spool of 1.75 mm filament is available for € 140 on the company’s website.
