3D Printing boosts Local Economy in China

The 3D printing construction company Yingcai Construction Technology in Lhasa, the capital of the Xizang Autonomous Region in southwest China, has boosted the local economy with its 3D printed products.

Yingcai, owned by two sub-district village committees, operates a modern workshop that uses 3D printing to produce furniture in vibrant colors and various designs. The company has been instrumental in creating jobs and increasing the income of local people, according to Zhang Yonghai, a district official. It is also reported that the company effectively recycles waste and generates positive economic, social and environmental benefits.

“Locals had relatively limited sources of income in the past. The 3D printing construction company has created many employment opportunities,” according to subdistrict official Zhang Yonghai.

“The 3D printing technology can enhance construction efficiency, reduce project timelines and save costs compared to traditional construction processes. The products we manufacture, such as flower pots and isolation strips, have superior quality, and the market outlook is promising,” said Xia Dong, chairman of the company.

The employees, who earn an average of 8,000 yuan per month, have been given access to further training in eastern Chinese cities such as Suzhou through the company. At the end of the year, the villagers are to receive dividends from the company’s profits. Employees such as Dainzin Zhoigar and Tsetse, a graduate of a 3D printing program, report increased salaries and the opportunity to learn new techniques.
