Medical device company Align Technology, which relies on 3D printing for production, has introduced the iTero Design Suite, which provides clinicians with an intuitive way to facilitate 3D printing designs for models, occlusal splints and restorations in the dental office.
The iTero Design Suite expands Align Technology’s digital portfolio, which already includes a variety of innovative technologies that enable seamless workflows for dental professionals. The software is designed to provide dentists with an intuitive way to create designs for 3D printing models, occlusal splints and restorations directly in the dental practice. This shortens treatment time and increases efficiency in the practice.
“I’m excited to be working with the iTero Design Suite. I was looking for an in-practice design software that my team and I could use. The workflow is fast and efficient. We can easily design restorations, hard splints, models, and mockups to show patients the possibilities of cosmetic dentistry,” said Dr. Steven Glassman, a cosmetic dentist based in New York City and a speaker for Align Technology who participated in the limited market release.
The iTero Design Suite is currently available as part of an early access program. Dentists using an iTero scanner can express their interest via their scanner or the MyiTero portal. General availability of the software is expected later this year.
“We have seen growing interest in 3D printing technology from our customers, and bringing the iTero Design Suite to market reflects our commitment to offering our customers the digital transformation solutions they need to enhance practice efficiency and patient experiences through powerful technology,” said Karim Boussebaa, Align Technology executive vice president and managing director, iTero scanner and services business.
Tillmann Steinbrecher, CEO of exocad added: “With the iTero Design Suite, doctors will benefit from a flexible solution that enables seamless workflows for in-practice production using exocad’s innovative software.”
With this innovation, Align Technology is taking another important step in the digital transformation of dentistry, providing dentists with tools to further improve the quality of care and increase the efficiency of their practice.
