YouTuber and maker Muhammad Shoaib Khan has presented a solution for processing plastic waste in the 3D printing sector. In a detailed video tutorial, he shows how filament can be produced from used PET bottles using a self-built system.
The concept combines environmental protection with 3D printing technology. Khan demonstrates how everyday plastic waste can be converted into high-quality printing material. The system developed by Khan consists of several 3D-printed components. It includes a shredder for shredding the bottles, an extruder for processing the shredded material and a cooling unit for moulding the filament. Khan provides all the required 3D models free of charge on the Thingiverse platform.
In his tutorial, Khan goes into detail about the construction process and how the individual components work. He explains the necessary steps from the preparation of the PET bottles to the production of the finished filament. He emphasises the importance of the correct temperature settings and material consistency for the quality of the end product.
